The easiest apple pie EVER!!!

Today I made the fastest apple pie EVER!!! It tasted so good and it was ready before you could say “Yummy, apple pie!” so I really had to share this “recipe” with you. And since they are expecting the first autumn storm this afternoon, what better way to spend some time cuddled up on the couch with a piece of freshly baked apple pie!!!

If you live in The Netherlands it can be really, really easy. You go to the supermarket and you buy:
a box of Koopmans Mix voor Appelkruimeltaart
a jar of apple sauce (appelmoes)
one egg
a bottle of liquid margarine

Throw the mix in with 100 grams of the margarine and the egg and stir well, with a spoon (or even better, with the mixer). Put 2/3 of the crumbles you get into the baking pan, distribute evenly and press with a spoon to get a cookie dough-like layer, this will be the bottom of the cake (obviously). Open the jar of apple sauce (I used “machtige moes” by Gijs from Plus) and pour it over the bottom. Loosely throw the rest of the crumbles on top. Put it just below the middle of the pre heated oven on 180 degrees C for 45 minutes. Let it cool down just a little before you take it out of the baking tin, and eat it when it’s still warm, preferably with a spoon of fresh whipped cream. Yummy!!!

If you don’t live in the Netherlands, it can still be really easy and really fast. In that case, you make the mix yourself with 225 grams of flour, 90 grams of sugar, 100 grams of butter and one egg. The instructions stay the same!!!
And instead of the apple sauce, you could take 5 nice and sour apples and cut them up, boil them to a nice sauce with a bit of water (20 cc should do), two spoonfuls of sugar and a teaspoon of cinnamon.

Don’t go for the cheapest apple sauce, by the way. If it is too watery, the bottom of the cake will not have that nice crunch.

Hmmm…. When I write it down like this, I wonder why the hell I pay so much for the mix…

Have a good one!
